Advances in Lung Cancer Treatments - New Studies Show Improved Survival with Chemotherapy

Chicago-June 2, 2003- New research presented at the 39th Annual Meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO)indicates chemotherapy improves survival after surgery. Patients treated with chemotherapy after surgery survived longer and were more likely to be cured of their disease than patients who underwent surgery alone. The study involved 1,867 patients in 33 countries who were randomly selected to receive either chemotherapy or observation with no chemotherapy.
